With degrees in Interior Design and Art History, Mary graduated from WVU and started an Interior Design and Professional organizing business in 2004 (  While she always had an eye for beauty in her surroundings, she never truly experienced the beauty of physical exercise until she started practicing Pilates.

Throughout Mary’s adult life she “dabbled” in different exercise programs but never found anything she truly enjoyed until she began practicing yoga and Pilates.  She loves the physical, mental and spiritual benefits of both; however, she has developed a special passion for Pilates.

In an effort to further her own personal practice, Mary began studying Pilates techniques.  In April of 2008, she received her mat certification through Power Pilates she then began instructing her friends.  Two weeks into teaching she realized she loved teaching Pilates and opened a studio in downtown Charleston.  Mary began studying Pilates Apparatus in June of 2009, in August of 2010 she became comprehensively certified through Balanced Body University and in February of 2011 she became the first PMA (Pilates Method Alliance) Certified Instructor in the state of West Virginia.   Mary has over 488+ hours of Pilates education and continually educates herself in Pilates.  Since beginning her Pilates journey Mary has taken continuing education courses in D.C, New York City, Toronto, Chicago, San Diego, and San Francisco.  In addition to continuing education workshops she has also completed a three day intensive pre and post natal certification in DC as well as attended a three day course for Physical Therapists in Florida on Osteoporosis.  She truly enjoys sharing the benefits of Pilates with others and loves to see the transformations of both her student’s bodies and their abilities.  Mary focuses on teaching private group based classes, providing students with personalized attention and classes designed to meet their specific needs.

I have been practicing Yoga since 2001 and Pilates since 2005. I am a 200 hr ERYT with the Yoga Alliance, certified in Hatha Yoga in the Kripalu tradition. I primarily practice and teach Ashtanga Yoga. I am a comprehensively trained Pilates instructor through Balanced Body University. I am also PMA (Pilate’s Method Alliance) Certified. I love the benefits of both Yoga and Pilates and feel they are the “Yin” and “Yang” of mindful movement practices.
