Prenatal Pilates Classes

These classes emphasize pelvic floor and back strengthening, postural improvement, flexibility and core stabilization by using safe techniques preparing women’s bodies for a successful birthing experience. This unique exercise program touches on the needs of pregnant women from the first trimester through labor. You will learn how to accommodate the changes that occur in the body during pregnancy as the body is prepared for labor while being realigned for birth.

Postnatal Pilates Classes

Having a baby is a special time in woman’s life. This class is designed to help heal a post partum woman from the trauma of birth as they re-enter the world as a new mother while regaining themselves and their bodies. The focus will be on rehabilitating the pelvic floor, closing the abdominals and realigning the spine. Using this gentle approach will help re-build the strength of the body from inside out. This unique exercise program will cover safe and beneficial exercises for a post partum woman up to one year after birth.

  • Promotes good posture
  • Clears the body of toxins
  • Build a sense of control
  • Helps to prevent isolation and depression among new mothers

 Can I take Pre or Post Natal Pilates?

More than likely, YES, however it is required that everyone (pre or postnatal) must obtain permission/approval from their doctor before beginning any exercise program.

Your body is continually changing both during pregnancy and post partum, it is imperative that communicate these changes with your Pilates professional so they can develop a program to better serve your needs.

Many women develop problems during or after pregnancy.  Pre and Postnatal instructors are educated and trained to work with clients suffering from any of the following conditions (with doctor’s approval):

Prenatal:

  • Sciatica
  • Carpal Tunnel Sydrome
  • Round Ligament Pain
  • Diastasis recti
  • Pubis symphasis derangement
  • Back pain as a result of postural changes

Postnatal

  • C-Section
  • Incontinence
  • Episiotomy/Tearing
  • Rehabilitation of diastasis recti
  • Rehabilitation of pubis symphasis derangement
  • Slumped posture as a result of breastfeeding
